Brisbane Marathon

Well I was a sucker for punishment.  Having had a few weeks break I was feeling fresh and ready to go.  I had forgotten the last 12km’s of the Gold Coast marathon obviously and listened to much to my running mate Cassie when I rang her and asked whether she thought it was a good idea to run this marathon.  She promptly informed me that by ringing her I had made up my mind and therefore should just run it.

Once again I lined up at the start with Cassie, Jon Grayson, the other Major (it’s an army thing) Tony Scott and off we went.  Well it was enjoyable once again to the 27km mark.  It was at this point that I realised that i hadn’t learnt my lesson from the previous race and had gone to hard and that it was going to be another long morning on the road.

Cass, Tony and Jon passed me just before the turnaround and seemed to be going well and finished in very respectable times and I think all but Tony did it tough.

Well after putting the body through what seemed like an eternity the finish line was in sight and once again there was Henry and mum cheerng madly.  This makes it all worthwhile and you soon forget the previous 42km’s.

It was a hot, humid morning and it was over.  I finished this race in 4.44hrs.
